1.10.1. ACTIVITY

Begin to Gather Your Labs
THE IMPORTANCE OF LABS
Labs provide critical guidance for understanding your risks and monitoring the impact of your interventions. You’re missing an enormous opportunity if you’re not using laboratory testing to its full effect and it’s our intent to try to help you get the most from this powerful tool, even if we can’t be your doctor.
We will be doing a deep-dive on labs in Module 5. In order to extract maximum value from that content, we highly recommend you have your labs by the time you get to that portion of the program. The time to start on this is now.
Please note that the recommended lab reference ranges contained herein are in many cases based on reference ranges from Boston Heart Diagnostics. It’s important to understand that different labs use different assays and reference ranges. So, your ranges may not match ours. For that reason, and for many others, we recommend that in all cases you consult with your doctor when interpreting your lab results.

Instructions
STEP 1
Gather and record your historical labs data. Again, we will be diving deep into this information in Module 5. Experience – and feedback from other users of the program – tells us that gathering this data will take time. Now is not the time to focus on interpretation, rather, it’s time to focus on collection. This will take time and may require you to request this information from your healthcare providers.
STEP 2
Do you have all the labs you need? Are they up to date?
Identify testing gaps and a) discuss a plan to close those gaps with your healthcare provider; and/or b) plan to close those gaps by scheduling testing for yourself.
Patient-Driven Options
We feel that individuals who have direct and easy access to an insightful lab panel have a far better understanding of their risks and intervention options. The Medicine 2.0 system takes a very different view on the use of labs, and we recognize that getting access to what you need can be a challenge.
We’ve coordinated with Rupa to allow you to order these labs for yourself. We want to be very clear about a few things: most importantly, that we do not stand to profit or benefit financially from this referral. We suggest you independently research and understand Rupa and their service model. By electing to order your labs with Rupa, you are establishing a customer relationship with Rupa and accepting their terms and conditions. (Please note any provisions regarding medical advice and whether they do or do not engage in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals.) Additionally, you are agreeing to use their Support Team for questions, support, and guidance around the lab ordering process (support@rupahealth.com).
